Adopt Scooby

Mixed Breed · Male

Gender: male dog Born on: approx. 2023 Breed: Dobermann At the animal shelter since: 25.04.2025 Friendly and affectionate Quick to “get over it” No children Dog experience required, breed experience essential Scooby came to us as a stray in April. When we were called to the scene and found the poor soul, we were speechless. Scooby had bleeding wounds all over his body. We don’t know exactly what happened to him, but we do know that Scooby has already been through several homes in his life. His microchip is from abroad; allegedly, he came to Germany with Ukrainians and was then sold. With his previous owners, he reportedly bit a child on the chin and was passed on again. Afterwards, he was kept solely in a kennel, and based on his condition when he arrived with us, we suspect abuse. We probably don’t even know all the stops this dog has made. He’s a young, motivated male dog who can sometimes get overly excited and prone to displacement behaviors. He knows basic commands and has shown himself to be eager to learn and friendly with us. He initially has issues with men and needs time to learn that they can truly be trusted—likely a result of trauma from his past. We are looking for people for Scooby who have prior dog experience and, most importantly, specific experience with this breed. More than anything, we hope Scooby can finally settle down and live a wonderful life free from human disappointments. There should be no children in his new home.

In seinem neuen Zuhause sollten keine Kinder leben.

About Scooby

What life with Scooby looks like

Scooby is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbecke in Lübbecke.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scooby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scooby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbecke handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scooby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scooby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbecke will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scooby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scooby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbecke early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scooby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
