Adopt Seaweed

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

The wonderful EKH Glückskatzendame Seaweed is 8 years old and searching for a quiet, loving home where she can settle in again. She is a pure apartment cat and would like to have her people all to herself – she doesn’t particularly like other cats, so she will be rehomed as a single princess. Seaweed is a rather sensitive cat who has been very occupied by the changes in her previous home. Her primary caregiver has sadly recognized that Seaweed needs more closeness, peace, and company than is currently possible. Therefore, a suitable home is now being sought where she can once again receive the attention and security she deserves. Those who know Seaweed describe her as a quiet and special cat with a gentle nature. Once she has trust, she enjoys her routines and the closeness to her people very much. Seaweed currently needs inhalations twice daily due to her asthma. The costs for this will continue to be covered by her former owner. Additionally, a genetic dental issue should be monitored by a veterinarian in the future, so people are sought who will meet her with understanding and care. A quiet household without other animals and people who give Seaweed time to settle in and show her that she can settle in again are being sought. Those who want to give the pretty cat a chance or know someone who can, please contact Mrs. Schmitz.

About Seaweed

What life with Seaweed looks like

Seaweed is a medium-sized adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Karlsruhe e.V. in Karlsruhe.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Seaweed, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Seaweed?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Karlsruhe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Seaweed on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Seaweed if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Karlsruhe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Seaweed already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Seaweed isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Karlsruhe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Seaweed and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
