Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this cat now! Foundling Sebastian has been waiting for his chance for quite a while 🙁 Animal protectors found our tiger on the street. We don't know where he's from. But he surely has already gone through a lot. Although he creates a real WOW effect visually, his courage to approach new things is rather small. Sebastian is shy, but once he gets to know someone, he quickly leaves his insecurity behind. He allows being petted and can even enjoy it! 🙂 Living with Sebastian is very pleasant. He doesn't ask for much, but he is very happy with every attention and is a quiet, friendly roommate. Sebastian is a very social tomcat who definitely wants to live with other cats - keeping him alone is not an option for him. Another cat gives him courage when starting a new life. Sebastian could move into his new home right away and is looking forward to meeting his people for life. Sebastian tested positive for FIV, but this is no reason not to adopt him if you've fallen in love with him. FIV is a viral disease that can lead to a weakened immune system. Nevertheless, FIV positive cats can reach the same proud age as a cat that tested negative! The virus is only transmissible to other cats, humans and other animals cannot get infected. Transmission could only occur if there are severe bite wounds between cats. A negative and a positive cat could therefore easily live together in a household, share a bowl and cuddling spots, provided all parties are compatible. Transmission through mating is also possible, which is obviously ruled out for neutered kittens. Therefore, free roaming is not an option for Sebastian due to his illness. When Sebastian leaves, like all our cats and tomcats, he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated against fleas. He tested negative for FeLV and also has an EU pet passport in his carrier. After a preliminary check and against a deposit fee, he can move into his new home. Thank you Ker. W for your sponsorship of Sebastian's name.

About Sebastian

What life with Sebastian looks like

Sebastian is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sebastian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sebastian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sebastian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sebastian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sebastian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sebastian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sebastian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
