Serek

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Serek arrived at our shelter after an accident, undergoing surgery and a long recovery process. When he first came to the shelter, he was very fearful and withdrawn. The new reality overwhelmed him, and human contact was difficult for him, and the world seemed like a place he didn't fully trust. Today, we see a huge transformation. Serek is now a happy, increasingly confident dog. He is often chosen by our volunteers for walks because he is a pleasure to work with and it's clear he wants to be part of the relationship. When he sees familiar people, he is happy, wags his tail, and enthusiastically goes for a walk. This is a dog that needed time to trust, and that time has paid off. Today, he is happy to interact, enjoys closeness, and is increasingly showing his joyful nature. Treats are his weakness and a great motivation for further learning. He still doesn't know many commands, but he is attentive, perceptive, and ready to cooperate. In the right home, he will be able to develop his skills quickly. Serek can walk on a leash and is getting better at finding his way on walks. He still sometimes chooses his own direction because the world is very interesting to him, but this is a matter of further work and getting used to the handler together. On a daily basis, he is a moderately active dog, he likes exercise and exploring smells, but he also finds peace in quiet rest. We see in him a dog who will be happy to be a companion for daily walks and evening relaxation. From our observations, he is positively inclined towards other dogs and cats. He does not show conflicting behavior. However, if you have a pet at home, we encourage you to get to know him beforehand. Although he has made huge progress, he still needs a home that will continue to build his self-confidence. He will find his best fit with someone who: gives him stability and routine, works with him calmly and consistently, uses his motivation for treats in further learning. This is no longer a withdrawn, frightened dog. This is a dog who has proven that he can change and that he wants to be close to humans. Serek is a dog after a transformation, from a withdrawn, frightened dog, he has become a cheerful companion for walks, eagerly chosen by volunteers. He is looking for a home that will allow him to continue on this path. Contact for adoption takes place through an adoption questionnaire, which is the first and necessary step in the process and serves to consciously match the home to Serek's needs. To pies, który potrzebował czasu, by zaufać i ten czas przyniósł efekty. Dziś chętnie wchodzi w interakcje, lubi bliskość i coraz śmielej pokazuje swoją radosną naturę. Jednak jeśli masz w domu zwierzę, to zachęcamy do wcześniejszego zapoznania. About Serek

What life with Serek looks like

Serek is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Serek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Serek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Serek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Serek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Serek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Serek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Serek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
