Shadow

Male · Puppy · 8 months

Shadow is a super clever boy who is highly food-motivated, making ongoing training a rewarding experience with a few tasty treats on hand. He absolutely loves soft toys and is always excited to see his favourite people! Shadow enjoys plenty of fuss and attention and is a happy chap wherever he goes. He would thrive in a home that can provide lots of enrichment, helping to keep his clever mind busy and allowing his fun-loving personality to shine. Shadow is an excitable 7-month-old Collie cross German Shepherd who would like to be the only pet in the home for now, although he could potentially live with another dog in the future. He enjoys having canine companions on walks and could live with secondary school-aged children. Shadow can be left alone for up to four hours. As he has hip dysplasia, he doesn't require long walks or a lot of exercise and is happiest with shorter, gentle outings. Our veterinary team will be happy to discuss this in more detail.

About Shadow

What life with Shadow looks like

Shadow is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shadow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shadow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shadow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shadow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shadow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shadow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shadow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
