adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Peace at Rest, Shaggy…we are heartbroken… His story: The beautiful black and white Shaggy no longer understands the world… Shaggy sits in the shelter in Bistrița. For years, he was a stray, free, independent, and in the midst of life. Our helpers knew him already since at least three years from the street. And then everything changed. Shaggy was caught by the dog catchers, and suddenly his dog pack was gone, there was no more freedom, no familiar paths, and no possibility to take a step back. Only bars, noise, and stress. In the shelter, Shaggy is intimidated, almost as if someone had erased his self-confidence in an instant. Yet, he is a beautiful dog. His black and white fur makes him a real looker, and his warm brown eyes tell a story that cannot be put into words. A mix of questions, sadness, and cautious hope. Currently, Shaggy is still very shy. But he can be handled and shows no aggression towards people. What Shaggy needs right now is a place where he can breathe again. A safe framework with people who simply let him be, without pressure, without expectations, and without constantly working on him. For Shaggy, we wish for people with experience with insecure dogs. People who can read body language, recognize stress signals, and respect them, and who understand that love doesn’t always mean stroking but can also simply mean being there. A quiet home, a securely fenced garden, and perhaps also a sovereign only-dog could help Shaggy find security faster. Positive working dog training classes could be useful later once Shaggy is ready for them. Shaggy travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings his EU pet passport and can travel after a positive Also, an experienced foster home could certainly help Shaggy. Who sees in Shaggy not the shy dog in the shelter, but the proud street dog who has just lost the ground under his feet and needs someone to help him find it again? Many thanks to Gritt, you gave Shaggy his special name. As of: 25.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Gritt, du hast Shaggy seinen besonderen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 25.01.2026

About Shaggy

What life with Shaggy looks like

Shaggy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shaggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shaggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shaggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shaggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shaggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shaggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shaggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
