SHAGGY

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

SHAGGY is a delicate, sensitive dog who doesn't feel entirely at ease at the animal shelter yet. At first meeting, he may appear shy and withdrawn, but give him a moment, and he'll reveal his true nature. As he gets to know his human, he becomes a friendly, calm companion who enjoys spending time close to his caregivers. SHAGGY gets along well with both dogs and cats, so he could live in a home with other animals already present. Their presence could be an additional source of support and a sense of security for him. Due to his sensitive nature, he would do best in a quiet home. The presence of young children might be too stressful for him, so we are looking for a family with older children or a home without children. SHAGGY walks nicely on a leash and maintains excellent hygiene, suggesting he previously lived in a home. This dog doesn't require much – primarily patience, a sense of security, and a person who can show him that life can be peaceful and predictable. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

PL·Show original

About SHAGGY

What life with SHAGGY looks like

SHAGGY is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Świdnica in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting SHAGGY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SHAGGY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Świdnica handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SHAGGY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SHAGGY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Świdnica will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SHAGGY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SHAGGY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Świdnica early rather than rehoming privately; they know SHAGGY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
