adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! Happy End for Shakira! Her story: Sweet! Sweeter!! Shakira!!! The name “Shakira” means “the Grateful” among other things – but we thank the Dog-God that he sent us this wonderful creature. Shakira is a female dog who warms every heart. She was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau and now waits in cramped conditions for a loving home or family. How she ended up at the public shelter, we don’t know. But we suspect that Shakira had a very difficult past, as her teeth bear witness to deprivation and suffering: many are worn and blunt, which usually means that a desperate attempt was made to bite through a chain or fence to gain freedom. Therefore, we are now doing everything we can to offer our Shakira a beautiful future with all the things that make dogs happy. Our local helpers are absolutely thrilled with Shakira. She is described as incredibly lovable, approachable, and unobtrusive. Shakira already shows herself in Zalau as a dream companion, quietly and attentively observing the world with her beautiful sparkling button eyes. Our sweet mouse already walks quite well on the leash. A few training sessions would ensure that she becomes even more secure. Overall, Shakira still needs to learn some basic dog lessons. An initial dog by her side could be supportive. We currently don’t know how Shakira reacts to cats. Our cuddly sweetness is 47 cm tall and weighs 17 kg. What we are sure of: Shakira is an incredibly affectionate, young female dog who deserves the best and must finally arrive in a comfortable and reliable home. Shakira’s little suitcase is packed. She brings her EU pet passport, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She can also be fostered. Shakira would initially be very happy with a foster home. Would you like to grin at Shakira in competition, show her the world on extended walks, and fluff the pillow in the dog bed for the sweet mouse at night? Thank you Ker W. for giving Shakira this beautiful name and thus an identity and the chance at a wonderful dog life. Status: 22.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Happy End für Shakira! Ihre Geschichte: Süß! Süßer!! Shakira!!! Stand: 22.05.2025

About Shakira

What life with Shakira looks like

Shakira is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shakira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shakira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shakira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shakira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shakira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shakira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shakira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
