Shamsi und Minou

Female · Senior · 11 years

We must sadly place our two cats in other hands as one of our children has developed very strong asthma. Shamsi (8 years) and Minou (9 years) are both tabby and very delicate cats (European Shorthair). Minou is the mother of Shamsi. Shamsi is black tabby with a lot of white on her belly. She has very silky fur, is cuddly, and seeks the company of people she knows. Once you sit somewhere comfortably, she likes to join you. She came into the world as a sensitive and somewhat shy cat and thus needs to build trust first. However, she is more people-oriented than Minou. Minou has a brown tiger coat and is the quieter of the two, but when she is hungry, she can be very talkative. She likes to walk a block or two with you when you leave the house and seems very concerned, which is very sweet, and she greets you when you come home too. She loves to be stroked when you are relaxed somewhere, as she gets very excited and can hardly contain herself. The two cats are not so closely bonded that we would place them separately, but they have always been outdoor cats and something else would not suit them, as they are independent and freedom-loving. They have grown up with our children and should therefore be able to get along with children. For safety’s sake, no small children should live in the new home, as their often boisterous nature might be too much. Shamsi und Minou require little entertainment as long as they can follow their hunting and exploration instincts outside. The two cats are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and registered with Tasso. We would also give away all our cat accessories like litter boxes, feeding dishes, scratching posts, and cat beds. We live in Bonn-Bad Godesberg (Lannesdorf) and you are welcome to come over to meet the cats. For more information, please contact: Shamsi und Minou

Frequently asked

Adopting Shamsi und Minou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shamsi und Minou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shamsi und Minou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shamsi und Minou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Is Shamsi und Minou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shamsi und Minou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shamsi und Minou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
