Sharky

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sharky can stay forever in his foster family! His story: Last-minute rescue. Sharky, the beautiful young male dog, had a guardian angel. He was abandoned in an industrial area. There, a girl regularly feeds the stray dogs; there were at least 10 of them. One day, she found a dog dead and another one dying, they were poisoned. The next day, she found another poisoned dog. Desperate, the girl asked us for help. We managed to save three of them, including Sharky. Thanks to his guardian angel, he now waits to leave all his worries behind and start anew with his people. At around 60cm in height and weighing 26kg, Sharky could be a very successful mix of Husky and German Shepherd. Sharky is exceptionally beautiful and a real sight to behold. With his large ears and light beige fur, he is a true beauty. And he still gracefully lifts his front paws now and then 🙂 When Sharky was taken into our care, he was initially very reserved and didn't want to walk on a leash. Now, however, he walks well on a leash and begins to curiously explore his surroundings. He may not appear very active at first, which may also be due to his environment. Sharky enjoys being stroked, but needs some time at the beginning to get to know the people. He is more reserved and unobtrusive. He gets along well with his fellow animals. Cats have not been tested yet. Now, his hazel eyes look hopefully to the future. Sharky is looking for active people who don't expect anything from him at first and give him some time to settle in. We don't know if he already knows life in a house. Therefore, he should be able to forgive him the occasional mishap. Once he settles in, he will be looking forward to many long nature walks. Even though Sharky currently appears more reserved, it can be assumed that he is not a couch potato. It is also not out of the question that Sharky has a prey drive due to his breed. He would also be happy to attend dog training classes that work with positive reinforcement. He could enjoy agility or mantrailing. He definitely wants to be physically and mentally challenged. Sharky has his whole life ahead of him. All he needs are the people who want to share it with him. Sharky has packed his little bag. He travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, flea-treated, and dewormed. His EU pet passport is also ready. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euros, Sharky can travel. He would also be happy to have a foster home. Many thanks, Melanie! You have paved the way for Sharky's journey into a better future. As of July 31.

Stand: 31.07.2024

About Sharky

What life with Sharky looks like

Sharky is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sharky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sharky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sharky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sharky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sharky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sharky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sharky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
