Shayla (zusammen mit Tom)

Female · Young · 1 year

The young Shayla came to Tom after he had struggled deeply with the loss of his partner. With her cheerful nature, she brought new energy into his life. Meanwhile, Tom has become completely blind, and Shayla provides him with security and orientation in his daily routine. The two have grown very close and therefore strongly desire to move together into a new home. Note regarding rabbit adoption: Please read our adoption guidelines for small animals carefully before submitting an inquiry. All our rabbits have been examined by a veterinarian and are vaccinated. As a rule, a fecal examination has also been performed. In addition, all bucks undergo a DVT (Digital Volume Tomography) scan to assess the health of their ears.

About Shayla (zusammen mit Tom)

What life with Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) looks like

Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) is a young adult rabbit waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shayla (zusammen mit Tom), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shayla (zusammen mit Tom)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shayla (zusammen mit Tom) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
