Sheba

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Sheba is a beautiful young black cat, approximately 18 months – 2 years old and the mother of Henry, Margot, William & Iris. When you look at her she is all eyes! She has been an exceptionally good mother, but now her babies are going off into the world, it’s time for her to find a new home too. Sheba is a very friendly girl who adores strokes and petting, and loudly purrs her enjoyment and approval! Amazingly, the video below was taken on the first day in her new foster home – she is a really loving cat. Being so young, she also enjoys playing and can be quite kittenish at times. She has not been particularly receptive to her fosterer’s other cats, but she does have a young family in tow, so this is quite normal and she may be more inclined to be sociable once her kittens have been homed, but at this stage we are not certain how she would be with other cats. Sheba would make a lovely addition to any family. Sheba would enjoy access to a secure garden/outside space once she has settled in and is able to go outside. Technical Bits: Sheba is neutered and microchipped and will be vaccinated before she is homed and will go home with 5 weeks free pet insurance. If you would like to offer gorgeous Sheba a loving home, please download the adoption form or email us.

About Sheba

What life with Sheba looks like

Sheba is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at The Cats Whiskers Rescue (East Herts) in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Cats Whiskers Rescue (East Herts) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Cats Whiskers Rescue (East Herts) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Cats Whiskers Rescue (East Herts) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
