Sheena

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Sheena, like Schwesterchen Snug, does not seek out human company on her own. However, if she is already in the kennel, you can take a closer look. And if you bring treats, all the better. November 2018 After struggling with her fear for a long time, she is now ready to get closer to people. Touching is only possible for a very short time and with your arm fully extended. Only if she thinks you can't see her, she will come closer from behind. She is on a good path, and we hope she continues it. Beautiful Sheena. She gets along well with her fellow dogs in the run, likes to play and run, and is often mistaken for her twin sister Snug. July 2018 February 2018 July 2017 Sheena and her siblings have grown into beautiful, strong dogs, but they are suspicious of humans. We hope they can soon trust us after their first traumatic experience. They play a lot with each other and with the other dogs in the run. February 2017 4 small, about 5-6 week old puppies were about to be drowned in a stream. A kind animal lover rescued them from the icy water. Since she already has 6 dogs, she can't raise the little ones herself. Now they are with us: Samu, Sheena, Snug & Swenny. More information to follow... Only for experienced people.

About Sheena

What life with Sheena looks like

Sheena is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. in Romania.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
