Sheili

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

Shelly is a very kind, somewhat shy female dog. She is not aggressive towards other dogs but can stand up for herself when needed. She has a tragic history - she was a homeless dog in Ukraine, which is a terrible fate. She got to the animal shelter in Bucz, but luck smiled on her a little there. The Russian army that occupied Bucz and committed terrible crimes there also did not spare the animals. For more than a month, no one was allowed near the dogs in the animal shelter, volunteers were shot. Most of the dogs died of hunger and thirst. Shelly was lucky enough to be taken in by someone just before the Russian invasion. However, she survived the shooting, probably the escape of her caregivers, and was once again on the street. She was rescued by Ukrainian volunteers and then came to us. It took a long time before the demons of the past left her, but now she is a charming, affectionate companion, longing for contact and petting.

Większosc psów umarła z głodu i pragnienia.Shelly zaś miała to szczęście ze tuz przed rosyjskim najazdem ktoś wziąl ją do domu tymczasowego.Przeżyła jednak ostrzał,prawdopodobnie ucieczkę swoich opiekunów i znowu była na ulicy.Uratowały ja ukraińskie wolontariuszki a potem przyjechała do nas. Dlugo trwało zanim opuściły ja demony przeszłości,ale teraz jest uroczym przytulakiem, spragnionym kontaktu i głaskania.Shelly ma 7-8 lat,ok 55 cm wzrostu,waży ok 17 -18 kg Jest wysterylizowana, posiada komplet szczepień

About Sheili

What life with Sheili looks like

Sheili is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Wzajemnie Pomocni in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheili, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheili?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Wzajemnie Pomocni handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheili on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheili if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Wzajemnie Pomocni will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheili already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheili isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Wzajemnie Pomocni early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheili and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
