Name: Sheldonge born: approx. 01.01.2024. Gender: male dog. Breed: Mixed breed. Rescued: rescued from poor husbandry. Size: approx. 40-45 cm. Weight: approx. 25-30 kg. Social behavior: Behavior towards men: (x) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) shy. Behavior towards women: (x) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) shy. Behavior towards children: not known ( ) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) shy. Compatible with male dogs: not yet known ( ) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) no. Compatible with female dogs: not yet known ( ) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) no. Compatible with cats: not known ( ) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) no. Has already lived in a house: not known ( ) yes ( ) no. Additional information: Sheldon came to us with the help of the Füzesabony Animal Protection Foundation from Mezőtárkány. He is a mixed-breed male dog born around early 2024. Unfortunately, his previous life was not easy: He lived on a chain that was only half a meter long, attached to his neck with a simple rope. So this beautiful German Shepherd-Husky-mixed breed had to cope with his daily life. Despite his past, Sheldon has become an extremely friendly, open-minded and cheerful dog. He is a very energetic, playful guy full of curiosity. His wonderful appearance is crowned by his special, expressive eyes, into which one simply has to fall in love. We are looking for a family that can offer him an active daily life, sufficient stimulation as well as lots of love and care. A home where he can finally live as a full member of the family and show what a fantastic, loyal companion he can be. We don't know much about his relationship with other dogs or other animals yet. Once we have gathered experience in this regard, we will update his data sheet accordingly. The heartworm test carried out upon his arrival at the animal shelter was fortunately negative. Once Sheldon is fully vaccinated and neutered, we will look for a loving forever home for him. Gets along with other dogs.

About Sheldon

What life with Sheldon looks like

Sheldon is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noah Tierheim Ungarn in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheldon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheldon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noah Tierheim Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheldon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheldon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noah Tierheim Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheldon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheldon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noah Tierheim Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheldon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
