Shelley

Havanese · Female · Adult · 7 years

Shelley is looking for a calm home and can live with secondary school aged children or higher who can give her the time and space she needs to settle. She may be able to live with a calm, similarly sized dog, but she would also be happy soaking up all the attention herself. As she can be worried by busy environments and unfamiliar people, she'd prefer a quieter household with minimal visitors initially. Shelley has come on leaps and bounds during her time with us, growing from a worried girl into one who eagerly greets her favourite people. She loves affection, enjoys exploring at her own pace and has started to show a playful side with soft toys and games of fetch. She may need a little refresher with housetraining and some ongoing confidence-building, but with patience and kindness, Shelley will make a wonderfully loyal companion. If you're looking for a loving little dog who will reward your patience with endless cuddles and affection, Shelley could be the perfect match. Meet Shelley! This sweet Havanese is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to blossom. Shelley can be a little nervous when faced with new situations, but once she gets to know you, her affectionate personality truly shines. She loves human company and is a real cuddle bug, happily nudging your hand for more fuss if you dare to stop! Shelley also enjoys her walks and carrying her favourite soft toys around when she's feeling happy and confident

About Shelley

What life with Shelley looks like

Shelley is a adult havanese dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shelley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shelley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shelley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shelley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shelley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shelley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shelley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
