adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Shelly can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Shelly searches for the glade in the dreary zoo routine. Shelly means "Glade by the River." The friendly little female dog still holds onto the hope of finding her own home and longs for a loving family that will take her in and not let her go. Currently, the loving Shelly lives in the public shelter in Romania. Despite all the efforts of the staff, her daily life is dreary and unoccupied, nothing for such a young and interested female dog. Shelly is only 2 years old and about 45 cm in height, a medium-sized dog. She has beautiful light brown fur that darkens on her back, and her eyes are hazel. Shelly shows herself in Romania as a very social and open-minded dog. She enjoys the company of people, as well as her fellow animals, and is playful and agile for her age. Therefore, we want to do everything we can to place Shelly as quickly as possible in a new home with engaged and loving people who will give her the opportunity to play, learn, and be let in the wind on walks. However, it is to be assumed that leash manners, house cleanliness, and house behavior rules are just as unfamiliar to her as they are to a young female dog. But we are sure that Shelly will quickly learn the whole dog 1×1 if she is trained with patience and loving consistency. After the adjustment period, a visit to a positively working dog training class would contribute to physically and mentally exhausting the young female dog and strengthening the bond to her new people. We wish for Shelly loving adopters who are excited to work with a young female dog. Cuddles and plenty of mental stimulation with Shelly as well as a cozy spot and sufficient contact with fellow animals will surely make her a confident and balanced companion. Shelly would also be very happy with a foster home. Shelly travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to her new home. She is due to arrive after a positive stay at our area. Many thanks to Silvie S., who gave Shelly her beautiful name and thus a personal identity. As of: 20.06.

Stand: 20.06.2024

About Shelly

What life with Shelly looks like

Shelly is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shelly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shelly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shelly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shelly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shelly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shelly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shelly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
