Shenzi

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Mischling Shenzi - a little puppy who finally wants to discover the world Shenzi came to the Spanish animal shelter in September 2026 at just two and a half months old, along with Vitani. At an age when a puppy should be curiously discovering the world, playing, romping, and learning a great deal, her life begins behind bars. Shenzi spends a large part of her time in a small cage. Far too little space to move freely, play, or curiously explore her surroundings. The first months of life are so important for a young dog. During this time, the foundations for his later life are laid - through new experiences, loving guidance, play, movement, and close contact with his people. Shenzi should not have to spend her puppy time in the shelter. She wants to run, play, sniff, cuddle, and learn all the small and big things that should be a matter of course for a happy dog life. Together with Vitani, she is waiting for someone to finally recognize how much life is in these little puppies. We therefore wish Shenzi a loving foster family as soon as possible - it would of course be even better if she had her own home where she could belong from the start and grow up protected. Her future family should be aware that a puppy is not only cute, but needs time, patience, loving upbringing, and a great deal of attention. Shenzi wants to know the world and needs people to accompany her safely and patiently and show her how beautiful life can be. Shenzi is still at the beginning of her life. She should not have to spend her childhood in a small cage. She deserves a home where she can grow, learn, play, and above all be one thing: a happy puppy. Here is Shenzi's video.

About Shenzi

What life with Shenzi looks like

Shenzi is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shenzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shenzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shenzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shenzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Shenzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shenzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shenzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
