Sheyla

European Shorthair · Female

Ralf & Sheyla - Two hearts that would love to leave together ❤️ Sometimes connections form in the shelter that you would rather not break. Ralf and Sheyla like each other very much - and that's why we would be thrilled if the two of them found their home together. Ralf is just a really sweet, kind and relaxed guy. ❤️ He is compatible, wonderful with people and belongs to the more laid-back group: calm, relaxed and pleasantly uncomplicated. Sheyla brings a bit more energy to the combination as a young cat. 😄 She is sweet, playful and people-oriented and still has a lot of fun discovering the world. And somehow they complement each other quite nicely: the relaxed Ralf and the young, playful Sheyla. ❤️ Small children are also welcome to join their future family. 🌿If Ralf and Sheyla move out together, we wish them a home with outdoor access in a suitable environment. Outdoor access is generally provided for Ralf. If Sheyla is rehomed without Ralf, apartment living with a secured balcony would also be possible. Of course, we can't promise that two cats will always be inseparable. But if two get along so well in the shelter and would like to leave together, we would like to give them this chance. 🥰 Maybe there is a home out there where not just one, but two places are free? 🏡❤️ Ralf and Sheyla would love to occupy them. 🐾

About Sheyla

What life with Sheyla looks like

Sheyla is an extra-large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Gelsenkirchen in Gelsenkirchen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheyla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheyla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Gelsenkirchen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheyla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheyla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Gelsenkirchen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sheyla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheyla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Gelsenkirchen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheyla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
