Shine The Light

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Update 🥳: Shine the Light is also one of the lucky ones who get to pack their bags. On 23.05 she arrives at her foster placement in 53783 Eitdorf! There she can first arrive completely at ease, at her own pace, and get used to her new life. An update on her will follow. Shine the Light, born in 2022 and about 47 cm tall, was rescued in 2024 from the Public Shelter Husi. There the young female had given birth to five puppies – and lost them all. The grief over this plunged her into a deep depression, as is sadly so often seen in mothers who have to lose their babies in the shelter. To give her a chance at stability, she was moved to our training camp after some time. But there, too, she did not find what she so urgently needs. That is primarily peace and quiet! Daily life in the boarding facility still weighs heavily on her. The delicate and pretty female is not aggressive; she doesn't come forward, but instead tries to make herself invisible. Visit update December 2025: There is no real improvement – but at least she is no longer so severely stressed. Nevertheless, she remains a fearful dog who can hardly come to rest in the hectic shelter routine. Shine the Light is one of the dogs who urgently need a different setting. A place without noise, without pressure, without constant stimuli. A person who sees her as she is: hurt, sensitive, but full of potential. What she urgently needs now: A calm, compassionate and experienced foster placement or a loving, patient and experienced home that gives her time and quiet. Time to settle in. Time to breathe. Time to learn trust again. Preferably also a confident first dog who can show her how beautiful the world out there is. Shine the Light has lost a lot – but she has not given up. Maybe you are the person who will show her that her name is no coincidence. That a light may shine for her too. Shine The Light is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped and, after a positive preliminary check, placed with a protection contract.

About Shine The Light

What life with Shine The Light looks like

Shine The Light is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shine The Light, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shine The Light?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shine The Light on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shine The Light if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Shine The Light already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shine The Light isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shine The Light and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
