Shirley Temple

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

A sweet, gentle, and playful cat named Shirley Temple is available for adoption. She is a very young mother who was found with a severe case of mastitis and her kittens were missing. A local resident reported seeing children with the kittens, but no one took care of the sick and starving mother cat. Shirley was so hungry that she ate corn snacks dropped on the ground by a child. Our caregivers brought her to the vet, where she was spayed, treated for mastitis, and tested for FIV and FeLV, both of which came back negative. She is now fully vaccinated, including rabies, and her papers are ready. She is ready to go to her forever home. Shirley is incredibly loving, playful, and social. She is very friendly with other cats and seeks their company when they are friendly. With people, she is curious, affectionate, and always interested in you. When she sees you coming, she immediately gets excited, turns over on her back, and stretches out her belly for you to pet. She loves playing with balls and exploring, and sometimes when she sits down, she stretches her back legs to the side and sits like a little frog, which makes her absolutely adorable. She is afraid of dogs, so this should be taken into consideration in her new home. Due to her personality, she is named Shirley Temple. She has a very childlike and cheerful nature. It is likely that she never really experienced her childhood as a kitten. Shirley had to endure hunger and a life without a safe home and then became a mother when she was still a young kitten. We are looking for a very loving home for Shirley with very caring people. 💙 Please note: The feedback from foster homes reflects the current behavior of the cat here.

About Shirley Temple

What life with Shirley Temple looks like

Shirley Temple is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shirley Temple, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shirley Temple?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shirley Temple on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shirley Temple if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shirley Temple already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shirley Temple isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shirley Temple and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
