Details Animal Name Shiva Breed Staffordshire Terrier Mix Gender female Born 2016 Height/Weight 50 cm 25 kg Children no Other Animals no Origin Private Surrender ID Shelter Management F523/18 Description **Shiva seeks experienced people with heart, intelligence, and responsibility** Shiva, a spayed female dog born in 2016 and a Staffordshire Terrier Mix, came to us from private circumstances. She is a strong-willed female dog not suitable for everyone, but she gives her trusted people a close and special bond. Once Shiva has placed her trust, she is very cuddly, clingy, and people-oriented. She enjoys the company of her trusted people and prefers to spend her time with them. Shiva does not approach strangers with reserve but shows clear resistance in the first contact. She goes forward to strangers and requires very clear, sovereign guidance by her primary caregiver. Shiva is physically strong and has a high escalation potential. Mistakes in management or a wrong assessment of the situation can have serious consequences. For this reason, we are exclusively seeking very experienced dog owners who are skilled in handling behaviorally challenging and safety-relevant dogs. Management of a visit to the new home must be done responsibly. Even outside the home, Shiva must be secured in various situations with a muzzle. Additionally, Shiva has a pronounced hunting and prey drive. She requires people who understand her inclinations, offer clear structures, and are willing to work responsibly with her over the long term. For Shiva, we are looking for a quiet, preferably rural home with manageable environmental stimuli. Children are not allowed in the household. This animal is good with children.

About Shiva

What life with Shiva looks like

Shiva is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierschutz Hildesheim und Umgebung e.V. in Hildesheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shiva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shiva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Hildesheim und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shiva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shiva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Hildesheim und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shiva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shiva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Hildesheim und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shiva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
