Adopt Shonon

Mixed Breed Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 9 years

🐾 Meet Shonnon 🐾 Age: 11/11/2016 Breed: Rottweiler Gender: female Neutered: no Description: Shonnon came to us because her previous owner no longer had a home. She was posted on social media with the message that she would be euthanized if no one could take her in. That's how she ended up with us. Behavior & Personality: Shonnon is a lovely, friendly lady who still enjoys walks and is very active for her age. She is pleasant on walks but may react to some dogs. During our general check-up by our veterinarian, she was a bit grumpy. This is not abnormal since she had never been to a veterinarian before, but if neutering is needed, she is willing to be a bit more cooperative. It is therefore recommended to use a muzzle during a visit to the veterinarian. Shonnon has a milk reflex, which means you must not approach her food. Even when she has a toy and is lying with it, you cannot just take it. When playing with her, there is no problem, and she will easily let go. Due to the milk reflex and possessive behavior around toys, we do not place her with children. What is Shonnon looking for? An owner with experience. A home without children. A meeting with a stable dog is possible. Type of animal: Dog Gender: Female Age:. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

Soort dier: Hond Geslacht: Vrouwelijk Leeftijd: 11/11/2016

About Shonon

What life with Shonon looks like

Shonon is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst in Belgium.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shonon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shonon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shonon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shonon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shonon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shonon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shonon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
