Shorty

Female · Young · 3 years

I'm a friendly little fella who absolutely loves people... maybe a little too much, some might say! I mean, I'd happily climb over a fence just to come and say hello to you. I'm also learning how to play with toys. I've already mastered the art of chasing a tennis ball! Now, the picking it up and bringing it back part... well, let's just say I'm still working on that. But hey, it's still great fun! I haven't been introduced to the other dogs at the rescue just yet, as I'm still settling into my new routine. The ladies here think I'll do just fine with other dogs once I'm ready. They've even enrolled me in training classes to help me learn how to walk nicely on a lead. We'll see how that goes! I'll be sure to keep you updated... and maybe even give you a review of my lessons. For now, I'm simply enjoying my fresh start as a rescue dog, soaking up all the love, care, and adventures that come with it. I can't wait to see what comes next!

About Shorty

What life with Shorty looks like

Shorty is a small young adult dog waiting at 2nd Chance Dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇾Adopting from Cyprus

Cypriot rescues focus heavily on cross-border placements (the island has more strays than local adopters). Animals are fully vetted before flying. The adopter pays the transport, while the shelter coordinates vaccinations, chipping, and the passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shorty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shorty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 2nd Chance Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shorty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shorty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 2nd Chance Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shorty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shorty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 2nd Chance Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shorty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
