Shrubs

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Meet our lovely girl Shrubs, a young Patterdale Terrier who is around 2 to 3 years old. Shrubs arrived in our care as a worried stray, but she is growing in confidence every day and is beginning to enjoy all that life has to offer. She loves getting out to explore and enjoys taking in all the new sights and smells on her walks. Shrubs walks beautifully on the lead and is becoming more confident with every adventure. Shrubs is enjoying meeting new people and happily soaks up all the fuss and belly rubs she can get. She is now ready to find a loving family of her own where she can continue to build strong bonds and enjoy life to the fullest. She would love a calm home with plenty of adventures, lots of time spent together and a secure enclosed garden where she can run, play and enjoy herself safely. Once she has settled into her new home, we feel Shrubs would really enjoy practising gentle games in the home to keep both her body and mind busy in a controlled environment. Shrubs has a heart murmur which does not appear to affect her quality of life, and she continues to enjoy every day to the fullest without letting it slow her down. We feel Shrubs could potentially live with sensible children and other dogs following successful controlled introductions at the centre. Shrubs is a truly lovely little dog with so much potential, and she is now ready to meet her potential family and get the ball rolling on finding the forever home she truly deserves. With love, patience and understanding, she is sure to blossom into the confident, happy companion she is becoming. Waiting to go in for my breakfast

About Shrubs

What life with Shrubs looks like

Shrubs is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shrubs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shrubs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shrubs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shrubs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shrubs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shrubs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shrubs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
