Shunka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Shunka has found her home! Her story: Shunka had a tough start in life. Together with her sister Beate, they were found alone, vulnerable, and without a mother on the streets. Without help, the little fur noses would have barely had a chance, but luckily they were found by our team member Dorel and taken into his shelter. Although it's not particularly beautiful here, and they are just one of many souls eagerly waiting for a home, they are safe and well cared for. With her approximately 4 months old, Shunka's whole life lies ahead. Shunka is a friendly, still somewhat insecure female dog, who with her cute floppy ears, her dark button eyes, and her beautiful black-brown fur, enchants everyone. Her gentle gaze and her cute, shy nature make her a very special female dog. Since Shunka has only known life on the streets so far, the life as a house dog is still foreign to her. Neither house training nor leash manners are familiar to her yet. But with loving upbringing, patience, and positive reinforcement, she will surely learn all of that quickly. In a few months, Shunka will enter puberty – an exciting but also challenging phase, in which she might question some of what she has learned. But with consistent, but sensitive upbringing and a understanding family by her side, she will master this time well and grow into a wonderful companion. Who will give Shunka a loving home where she can grow up protected? Even a foster home that eases her transition into life as a family dog would be a great help. Have you fallen in love with the little mouse? Then feel free to contact us! A big thank you to Claudia D., who gave Shunka her name and thus her identity. As of 12.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Dann melde dich gerne! Stand: 12.04.2025

About Shunka

What life with Shunka looks like

Shunka is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shunka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shunka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shunka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shunka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shunka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shunka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shunka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
