adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sierra has found her home! Her story: At about 8 months old, Sierra is a young female puppy full of curiosity and energy – ready to explore the world. But currently, she is stuck in the public shelter in Bistrita, a dreary place that is absolutely unsuitable for a young, eager-to-learn female dog like her. Sierra longs for a loving home where she can finally belong. Sierra is friendly, open, and gets along well with other dogs. She meets people with curiosity and affection. With her shoulder height of about 35 cm, Sierra is a medium-sized dog – handy but still robust enough for shared adventures. Her beautiful black-beige fur and her cheerful demeanor make her a true standout. But with youth comes puberty – and sometimes it can be intense! During this phase, Sierra also occasionally tests her limits. Therefore, we are looking for people who are willing to help her through this development period with patience, clarity, and loving consequences. Those who stick with it will be rewarded with a loyal, cheerful female dog who learns with enthusiasm and wants to please. Sierra has not known life in a home before. House training, leash manners, being alone, or fitting into a structured daily routine – all of these things she will have to learn step by step. But Sierra brings the best prerequisites with her to master these things with loving guidance and a bit of patience. After a certain period of adjustment, positive dog training classes can also be a valuable addition. For our Sierra, we wish for a family that is eager to grow together with her. Empathy, a sense of humor, and some knowledge about dogs should be brought by her people – and of course, plenty of time for cuddles, play, and adventures. Sierra travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She would also be happy to go to a foster home. Vielen Dank an Vera! Du hast Sierra ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 07.06.2025

About Sierra

What life with Sierra looks like

Sierra is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sierra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sierra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sierra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sierra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sierra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sierra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sierra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
