SILCO

Male · Young · 2 years

Male crossbreed (neutered). Born on March 15, 2024. Arrived at the shelter: October 2, 2026. Silco recently arrived at the shelter from Romania, after being found wandering and captured by the pound. Since his arrival, he has made tremendous progress! Still a bit reserved around strangers, he is gaining confidence every day thanks to the kindness of the team and volunteers. Today, Silco regularly goes on walks and is very affectionate. A touching Malamute who continues to evolve at his own pace! Compatibility: Ok with same-species dogs. Compatibility with other animals unknown. SPA de Sarrebourg Refuge des Malgré Eux Route de Réding 57400 SARREBOURG The shelter is open to the public every day from 2 PM to 6 PM (5 PM in winter) except Sundays and holidays. Although the shelter is part of the Défense Animale network, a national confederation of 300 associations and shelters sharing common values for animal defense, it cannot be associated with SPAs whose actions are broadcast on TV. We clearly do not have the same resources - human and financial - which is why donations are important for our shelter. All donations are tax-deductible at 66%.

About SILCO

What life with SILCO looks like

SILCO is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at SPA de Sarrebourg in France.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting SILCO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SILCO?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Sarrebourg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SILCO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SILCO if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Sarrebourg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is SILCO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SILCO isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Sarrebourg early rather than rehoming privately; they know SILCO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
