Simba

Male · Young · 1 year

Simba is a beautiful 1-year-old crossbreed. He came to us due to family reasons. Simba enjoys living indoors during the day with access to the garden. At night, he slept inside in his crate. Simba is a sweet, overenthusiastic boy with energy for ten. He does not get car sick. He could stay alone at home in his crate for 4 hours and whimpers for the first 15 minutes. Simba is house trained and does not try to escape from the house or garden. He no longer destroys anything. Simba's only issue is that he does not let food or legs be "taken away" again. This made it difficult with the smallest child in the house. Now, Simba can look for his golden basket. He can be tested with a playful dog of his own. He can be placed with children from 12 years old who are wise enough to leave Simba alone when he eats or chews. Simba is an hyperactive boy and looks for active owners who want to do a lot with him. Who can give Simba a warm home? Meetings always take place by appointment and after filling out our questionnaire via email. It therefore does not make sense to come without an appointment, nor to contact us by phone.

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a young adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
