How do I contact the shelter about Simon?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Simon if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Simon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Simon isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Simon

European Shorthair · Male

Simon ID No.: 145254 Breed: EKH Age: 04/2023 Gender: male Housing: Indoor/outdoor cat Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Simon was found on the street by animal rescuers together with Simbo and brought to the animal shelter. While Simbo has already shown himself open to new friendships, Simon still needs a little time to come out of his shell. He is currently in the process of adjusting to life at the animal shelter, which initially makes him appear somewhat reserved. However, we are confident that with the right amount of patience and affection, this little tomcat will soon reveal his true potential. Despite his initial shyness, Simon shows a sociable side and gets along well with his feline companions. His gentle nature and friendly demeanor make him a pleasant companion for his fellow animals. We firmly believe that, given time and the right support, Simon will grow into a loving companion. It would be wonderful for him if there were already a similarly aged cat in his new home—one he could look up to and perhaps help him overcome his fears more quickly. With plenty of patience and time, Simon will surely open up and show his affectionate character. Simon is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Vaccinations: Yes + €85.00 transport fee Contact person: Andrea Mürner Tel: Email:

About Simon

What life with Simon looks like

Simon is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
