Adopt Sina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Name Sina Born around June 2024 Gender female, neutered Breed mixed breed Size medium, approximately 50 cm and 20 kg Sina is currently in foster care in an animal shelter in a foreign country with our animal welfare friends. She can travel once we find a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. The young female dog has already been living in a small Romanian animal shelter for a longer time. We would like to make her and her brother Dooley visible and hope to find them a good home. Cristina discovered Dooley in a nearby village. As soon as she saw him, she also saw his sister Sina. Both looked very thin and emaciated. Not far away, under a bridge, she found their mother Vanila. Dooley was very afraid and not easily caught. However, Cristina was able to secure all three and brought them to the shelter, where they could regain their strength. All three have now developed trust in humans and are happy with every visit, enjoying their cuddles. That's why they are now looking for their forever home. Sina is a charming little dog. She is playful and friendly and very much likes people. She loves her cuddles. She is curious and will surely learn the dog ABC quite quickly. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give her a second chance at a responsible home. If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Sina

What life with Sina looks like

Sina is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
