Adopt Sirius

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Sirius carries the name of the brightest star in the sky—but he still cannot shine yet. The young male dog was found together with his siblings (Yoshi, Kaami, and Elean) next to the road where their dead mother was found—abandoned, frightened, and without any security. This terrible experience has shaped him. Today, Sirius is very reserved. He is hard to approach and prefers to keep a distance. He does not show aggressive behavior— he does not bite and retreats when things become too much for him. People who pressure him upset him strongly. In Beclean, he currently lives in a protected outdoor area where he can learn that not every touch means danger. But there is a lack of time and trusted people—what Sirius needs now is a quiet place with people who meet him with patience, empathy, and experience. For Sirius, we are searching for a understanding home, a foster home, or a foster home with a neutering option and dog experience—ideally with a securely fenced garden and an only dog. His new family should be ready to work with him in small steps—without pressure, with a lot of trust. Young dogs like Sirius need a finely tuned environment, clear structures, and the freedom to develop at their own pace. Whoever can take on this challenge will be rewarded with a loyal companion who can shine again someday. If you want to help Sirius take the first step into a better life, contact us—Sirius waits quietly but hopefully. Sirius is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, has an EU-pass, and can travel to his new home at any time. This dog will be rehomed together with the association Ein Herz für Streuner e. V. The double listing on both association sides and possibly on advertising portals serves to increase his visibility and find the right home for him faster. With the association, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the dog will be discussed and forwarded directly. We will take care of processing the inquiry as soon as possible!

About Sirius

What life with Sirius looks like

Sirius is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sirius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sirius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sirius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sirius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sirius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sirius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sirius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
