Sirius

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Sirius, a male German Shepherd born in May 2028, eagerly awaits the opportunity to leave the shelter. Unfortunately, the young dog has known nothing but life in a shelter. A puppy should be able to discover the world, experience security, and grow up in a family. Sirius is playful, cheerful, and curious, appropriate for his age. He loves human company, enjoys attention, and is friendly and open-minded towards others. Of course, he still has much to learn, as he has no experience of life in a home. With patience, love, and a understanding family, he will quickly make progress. Unfortunately, the young dog has only known life in a shelter. Life in a house or apartment is completely foreign to him. He will need to learn about everyday noises like vacuum cleaners, televisions, kitchen appliances, or passing cars, as well as the routines of family life. Like any young dog, Sirius will not be immediately house-trained. Being alone is also something he will need to learn step by step and with much patience. His future family should therefore understand that not everything will work out from the start and that the adjustment will take time. Sirius is a playful, affectionate young dog who enjoys the company of his humans. He is likely to reach a medium size (50-55 cm) and is looking for people who will lovingly accompany, support, and show him the world. We are looking for people for Sirius who are willing to take the journey with him and give him a loving home for the next 14 to 15 years. The puppy period and the subsequent puberty are an exciting and thrilling time, but also bring challenges. They require patience, consistency, time, endurance, and sometimes a good dose of humor. Only those who are aware of this responsibility and are willing to fully commit to the adventure of "young dog" should give Sirius the chance to become part of their family. In return, he will reward his humans with his joie de vivre, his affection, and many unforgettable moments. With the approaching winter, the situation for young dogs becomes particularly difficult. The icy cold in the shelter is not a suitable place for puppies and young dogs who need protection, warmth, and loving care. Sirius therefore urgently needs a home where he can grow up protected. Sirius is expected to reach a medium adult size and is suitable for people who enjoy accompanying a young dog on his journey through life. Who will give this enchanting young dog the chance to a warm bed, love, and a happy future? Sirius is waiting to arrive. Sirius is vaccinated and microchipped and will be placed with a contract after a positive preliminary inspection. For age-related reasons, he has not yet been spayed/neutered. Departure possible immediately! General note on our protégés: Our dogs in Romania are regularly visited so that we can always re-evaluate their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us very much to convey a good picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment - with new people, new routines, and new impressions - can also behave differently. This is quite normal and is part of any change process. Many dogs even open up more in their new home and show sides that were not visible in the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They are intended to provide orientation and show how the dog presents himself in the shelter - and what potential he has. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and develop positively.

About Sirius

What life with Sirius looks like

Sirius is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sirius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sirius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sirius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sirius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sirius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sirius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sirius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
