adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sirrah has found her home! Her story: The sweet-faced Sirrah with the teddy bear nose was found with her two siblings, Benito and Josefa, on the edge of a forest at a park. It is believed that the three furballs were abandoned there. Our animal welfare worker Andras was informed and brought the three to safety, as their chances of survival there would not have been very high. Sirrah is the most outgoing of the three puppies and immediately liked people. She enjoys being petted, and outside she is happy and playful, like a typical puppy. She seems not to be overly active and can relax well. Sirrah is 40 cm in size and weighs 9 kg. She is expected to grow to be medium to large when fully grown. She gets along well with other dogs, but cats have not been tested. Visually, Sirrah could be a successful mixed breed of German Shepherd and herding mix. We cannot rule out such characteristics as she grows, so we wish for experienced people who live in the countryside and already have experience with such breeds. Sirrah is looking for people who don't expect much from her and can show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Occasional mishaps shouldn't be held against her, and Sirrah should always be guided with a positive training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" much of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important to train consistently but lovingly during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Sirrah travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She also has her EU pet passport in her luggage. She would also be happy to go to a foster home. Thank you, Brigitte S.! You gave Sirrah her name and thus paved the way to a beautiful dog life. As of: 21.07.

Stand: 21.07.2024

About Sirrah

What life with Sirrah looks like

Sirrah is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sirrah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sirrah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sirrah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sirrah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sirrah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sirrah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sirrah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
