Female · Young · 2 years

Skanda is an absolutely wonderful female dog, rescued from the street, where she was condemned to survive in misery, exposed to dangers and destined to endless litters. She was saved in time, before that life could permanently break her body and spirit. Today, Skanda is a deeply joyful and radiant dog. Full of life, she gives off a sunny and communicative energy. She needs to feel safe and trusting before she reveals all the tenderness and loyalty she is capable of, and once that bond is formed, she becomes an extremely devoted companion to her human. Very sociable, Skanda gets along perfectly with other dogs, cats, chickens, as well as farm animals and equines. She currently lives surrounded by horses and dogs. She especially enjoys contact with her fellow dogs and social interactions. Skanda is a dynamic dog who loves to exercise, run and explore. Intelligent and attentive, she listens well and is very pleasant to live with day to day. Very affectionate, faithful and deeply loving, Skanda is ready for a country life. She is ready to join her forever family right now. Her papers are ready for a departure to Europe.

About Skanda

What life with Skanda looks like

Skanda is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe in France.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Skanda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Skanda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Skanda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Skanda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Skanda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Skanda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Skanda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
