adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen adoption process Skella has found a grace place! Her story: A picture is worth more than a thousand words. Skella as seen in the few pictures we have of her, really speaks volumes. What must this poor girl have already experienced? What has she already seen and endured? Her looks speak volumes. Every four-legged friend deserves a chance, and we hope very much that there is someone out there who discovers Skella. Skella is a beautiful female dog. She is approximately 50-55 cm in height and is now almost 9 years old. Her entire life has been spent behind bars. No wonder she seems to have lost any joy in life. Our Skella is searching for a quiet home where she can arrive in peace and set her own pace. And that is really very important, because Skella will surely need time. She is not yet ready to be touched and constantly retreats into her hut. Skella is very unsettled and needs experienced and steadfast people who can gradually accustom her to everyday life and provide her with a routine. Skella lives in the yard with other dogs, but since she is very withdrawn, we cannot say how she gets along with them. She also has no experience with cats, and we cannot test their interaction. In Skella's new family, only older and responsible children should live. Skella comes to us without a history – we do not know where she has been or if she ever had a family. Skella must therefore learn life in the household. She will probably not even put on a dish for the first few days, let alone allow herself to be touched. Therefore, Skella would also like her own room where she can retreat and decide when she wants to come out. Skella travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She would also be overjoyed to go to a foster home! Where is the needle in the haystack? Where are Skella's people? Many thanks to Lisa B.! You are supporting Skella with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 27.07.

Was hat sie schon alles gesehen, was durchgemacht? Vielen Dank Lisa B.! Du unterstützt Skella mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! About Skella

What life with Skella looks like

Skella is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Skella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Skella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Skella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Skella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Skella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Skella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Skella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
