Sky

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 9 years

Sky was born on 29th March 2017. She came to us because her previous owners were going travelling and couldn't take her with them. She is an independent girl who truly appreciates her own space. When Sky is in the mood for affection, she’s wonderfully sweet and loves a good fuss—on her own terms! She prefers to keep all four paws firmly on the ground and isn't a fan of being picked up or having her belly rubbed. She previously lived with young children but kept away from them, so an adult-only home would suit her best. Sky doesn't like the other cats in the cattery, so she needs to be the only cat in the household. She also enjoys having outdoor access. Sky is spayed, microchipped, and has had her first vaccination. She has a clean bill of health.

About Sky

What life with Sky looks like

Sky is an adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Windyway Animal Rescue in Macclesfield.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sky?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Windyway Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sky if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Windyway Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sky isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Windyway Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
