adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Slash is the most tragically charming rockstar in the shelter. Almost seven months old, the friendly, scruffy puppy is now a bit of an old hand. While his siblings have long since found their families, he remains the lone holdout, the one who hasn’t caught anyone’s eye yet. But he has everything you could wish for: the wild rockstar haircut, the loving bedroom gaze, and an incredibly friendly, playful nature. Slash is a dog who stands out—yet somehow always seems to be overlooked. Slash is curious and full of life. He loves people and enjoys every form of attention he can get. He gets along well with other dogs. In him lies this wonderful mix of energy and tenderness: first explore the world, then snuggle up. But life hasn’t been kind to him so far. His mom was poisoned after stealing a chicken out of hunger. And when no one took an interest in Slash for a long time, he had to leave his safe foster home and move into the loud, cold shelter. For a young puppy, that’s really hard. And yet, he’s managed to keep his loving nature. Currently, Slash lives in the shelter in Fantanele and measures about 50 cm—likely he’ll grow into a bigger dog. He’s never met any cats. From his haircut, it’s probable that Slash carries herding dog genes, so he’ll likely feel more comfortable in a rural environment. Herding dogs are loyal and closely connected to their people, but also vigilant and independent thinkers. Ideally, Slash’s future family will already have relevant experience or be motivated to learn about his typical traits. Slash is ready to travel and can be adopted immediately. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and brings his EU pet passport. So, if you want to add a bit more rock ‘n’ roll to your everyday life, you should definitely meet the little rockstar Slash. A foster home would also be very helpful for Slash. Many thanks, Cindy R.! You gave Slash his cool name! Date: April 28.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank, Cindy R.! Du hast Slash seinen coolen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 28.04.2026

About Slash

What life with Slash looks like

Slash is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Slash, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Slash?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Slash on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Slash if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Slash already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Slash isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Slash and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
