Smart - waiting for a forever home ❤️ Meet Smart, an 8-year-old English Cocker Spaniel with beautiful brown fur. This extremely charming and sensitive dog has been back at the shelter after six years of adoption. For Smart, this is a huge change and difficult experience, so today he most needs someone to give him a sense of security and a permanent home. Smart knows domestic life well. He keeps clean, doesn't dirty in the apartment and can find his place in everyday household routine. This dog loves human closeness and spending time together. As befits a hunting breed, Smart needs an appropriate amount of exercise, activity and activities that engage his nose and mind. Cocker Spaniels are dogs made for work and exploring the world, so we're looking for an active home that will provide him with regular walks, the opportunity to discover new places and a daily dose of interesting activities. Due to his past experiences and individual character, Smart will best find himself in a home without cats. We are also looking for caregivers who are aware of the dog's needs and willing to respect his boundaries. Smart also has his own individual needs and boundaries. In the past, he had more difficult reactions when interacting with some older people, so the future owner should get to know him calmly, learn to read his signals and give him time to build a relationship based on trust. In a responsible home that respects his character and needs, Smart has a chance to be a wonderful, devoted companion. Smart already lost his home once. Let's not let him lose hope too. He is looking for someone who will love him as he is - a dog with a story, but also with great potential to create a beautiful relationship. We are looking for Smart's forever home. One where he will never have to pack his things and start over again. 🏡🐾

About Smart

What life with Smart looks like

Smart is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smart, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smart?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smart on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smart if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Smart already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smart isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smart and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
