Smaug

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 1 month

Blind Smaug has conquered the monster within him—of course, that monster was pain. His eyes had been hurting for a long time: many days and weeks. The pain kept intensifying, yet help never came. This wasn’t a dream or a fantasy movie—it was reality: a world right here, close by, where sentient beings suffer, left without care. A terrible suffering that’s tearing apart the entire world of sick creatures. Welcome to the tale of Smaug. When he arrived at our foundation, Ja Pacze Sercem, he underwent surgery to remove the remnants of his eyeballs, finally bringing relief from the pain. And so little Smaug stepped into a whole new world. For the first time, he felt good and safe. A full belly, gentle petting, soft bedding—these were completely new sensations. As soon as he regained his strength, he started playing. Being blind isn’t a limitation for him. After all, he’d never really seen in the first place; before his eyes even opened, illness had already struck. His eyes had been nothing but a source of suffering. That’s why today Smaug is incredibly happy and bursting with energy. Cats, dogs, people—anyone who’s up for some wild fun is more than welcome. And Smaug himself reaches out to places his sight can’t: into the dishwasher, the oven, the fridge. It seems he’s got otherworldly powers now. He’s everywhere—the fastest, the highest, the deepest. He performs tricks that even Middle-earth’s greatest magicians could only dream of. And we watch in utter amazement. We deeply believe that sweet Smaug, on his extraordinary journey through life, will find his own pack. That he’ll be loved and always have someone to cuddle up to in his sleep. We hope our imagination doesn’t run away with us—and that his story will ultimately have a happy ending. Smaug was born in October 2025. He’s healthy, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and tests negative for FIV/FeLV. He’d love to meet new playmates—whether they’re feline, human, or canine. We’re looking for a “stay-at-home” home for him, with balconies and windows securely locked to prevent escape. Give Smaug a home* and together you’ll create a beautiful story about destiny—a destiny that love can change. *Our love for blind animals knows no bounds, which is why we facilitate adoptions both in Poland and abroad. ☎️ 500 383 928 📧

PL·Show original

Niewidomy Smaug pokonał potwora w sobie Ten potwór to ból, oczywiście. Bo oczy bolały go długo. Wiele dni i tygodni. Witajcie w bajce o Smaugu. Gdy trafił do naszej fundacji Ja Pacze Sercem, przeszedł operację usunięcia resztek gałek ocznych, dzięki czemu ból nareszcie ustąpił. I tak mały Smaug wkroczył do nowego świata. Pierwszy raz poczuł się dobrze i bezpiecznie. Pełny brzuch, głaskanie, miękka pościel – to były zupełnie nowe doznania. A my patrzymy z niedowierzaniem. ☎️ 500 383 928 📧

About Smaug

What life with Smaug looks like

Smaug is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smaug, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smaug?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smaug on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smaug if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Smaug already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smaug isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smaug and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
