Smilla (26-451)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Smilla is a friendly and affectionate female dog with a gentle personality who loves human company. From what we know about Smilla, she is easy to open up to and shows that she appreciates closeness. She was found by the rescue after she entered a farm and stayed there for a few days. There she got along well with two young girls with whom she was kind and gentle. Smilla usually gets along well with other dogs and is friendly in their company. She lets them sniff her and often encourages play, but not in a pushy or overwhelming way. With cats, however, she can become tense and has sometimes chased them. Smilla dreams of a home outside the city, where there is not too much traffic because too much traffic can make her stressed. She would thrive and function well in a family with children and a possible dog companion. But since Smilla loves people, we think she could also thrive in a home with only people, as long as she has the opportunity to meet and play with other dogs sometimes. It is best if there is no cat in the home. Above all, Smilla is looking for a family that likes to socialize and cuddle with her, but at the same time gives her time and space to land and adapt to her new home. Adopt Smilla and welcome a cuddly family member who fills the home with both love and joy!

SV·Show original

About Smilla (26-451)

What life with Smilla (26-451) looks like

Smilla (26-451) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Amazing Friends in Säter.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smilla (26-451), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smilla (26-451)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Amazing Friends handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smilla (26-451) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smilla (26-451) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Amazing Friends will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Smilla (26-451) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smilla (26-451) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Amazing Friends early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smilla (26-451) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
