Smilla

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Smilla has been locally adopted! Her story: Smilla is an approximately 5–6 year old cat currently living in a loving foster home. She is a absolute sweetheart who loves to snuggle and purr. Her simple and people-oriented nature makes her an ideal companion. Smilla greatly appreciates the company of humans and gets along exceptionally well with dogs, making her a great family member. She also gets along well with other cats. A walk outside is not an option for Smilla as she was found on a busy street in the past and was in danger of being hit by a car. Smilla is ready to move into a loving home where she will receive the affection and security she deserves. Before the sweet kitten moves into her new home, she, like all our cats and tomcats, will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has already tested negative for FIV and FeLV and will also bring her EU pet passport in her luggage. We would like to thank Martina T. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Smilla

What life with Smilla looks like

Smilla is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smilla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smilla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smilla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smilla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Smilla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smilla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smilla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
