adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Snickers has found its very own home! His story: Snickers is a truly special treasure, with a huge heart and such a loving soul! When you meet Snickers and are met with his warm eyes, you immediately sense that something very special lies beneath his beautiful black-brown fur. This approximately 1.5-year-old male dog has an incredibly loving nature and is always desperately searching for human affection, which means everything to him. It's truly sad that this wonderful dog hasn't found someone to open their heart to yet. But now, we stand by his side and are doing everything we can to turn his fate around and help him find his dream home. Even an offer of a loving foster home, where he could learn and gather many happy moments, would be gladly accepted by Snickers. Snickers was brought to us by the dog catchers, and as usual, we have no information about how his previous life looked. What we do know, however, is that he doesn't like it at the shelter at all. Although he's not a fearful dog, he still suffers from the loud environment and the fact of being confined without human company. When you take him out of his pen, he immediately snuggles up to anyone and soaks up the closeness, making it extremely difficult to have to bring him back. With a shoulder height of about 50 cm, Snickers has the perfect medium size to be, as he wishes, always at the side of his people. Although he was almost born without a tail, he is an attractive mixed-breed male dog with a slender, athletic build. We cannot say for certain which breeds are represented in his lineage. Externally, a German Shepherd might be conceivable, suggesting possible herding dog genes. Snickers is still young and likely brimming with energy. Additionally, his clever mind would also benefit from being challenged as much as his fine nose and active legs. Therefore, Snickers might be an ideal candidate for dog training classes where he could try out different dog sports like agility or mantrailing. Cuddles and lots of shared cuddle time with his favorite people are also important to him. When meeting fellow animals, he shows up as expected to be friendly and uncomplicated. Whether he likes cats, we unfortunately don't know. So far, Snickers has lived by his own rules and knows the basics of life in a house, indoor cleanliness, and being alone. His future people should be ready to teach him everything patiently and with much understanding. Snickers is still in the latter stages of puberty but shows an exceptionally eager and open learning attitude. An entry into Switzerland is not allowed due to the shortened tail. Who would like to turn Snickers 's world upside down and give him the life he deserves? Many thanks, Emma, for taking on his nametag sponsorship. As of: 18.10. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 18.10.2024

About Snickers

What life with Snickers looks like

Snickers is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snickers, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snickers?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snickers on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snickers if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snickers already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snickers isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snickers and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
