Snorre

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

A male stray cat, approximately born in 2024, with a mix of Siberian Forest cat, FIV positive, neutered yes/no, in the shelter since 26.03.2026. We test every cat for FIV (cat AIDS) and FeLV (cat leukemia) using a rapid test and inform about the status. We inform about the risk of FIP disease (peritonitis). Snorre was found heavily matted and unneutered in Marburg-Ockershausen, secured and brought to our shelter. It seems nobody misses him. The beautiful cat is initially very reserved, after initial adjustment not fearful, but rather shy and introverted. He enjoys being stroked in quiet moments and also enjoys it, but needs people who slowly get to know him and do not expect or demand too much from him at once. He is FIV positive, unfortunately not untypical for unneutered stray cats. FIV belongs to the family of retroviruses. It can cause a disease in cats that resembles human HIV, hence FIV is also called "cat AIDS". Due to the weakened immune system, it can happen that the cat can no longer fight off infections from a certain point onwards, then it comes to increased colds or gum inflammation. FIV is not transmissible to humans or other animal species, but under certain circumstances, e.g. through a deep muscle bite on other cats (not through droplet infection). More information on the FIV diagnosis is available here! Due to his diagnosis, Snorre will not be placed in unsecured outdoor access. The ideal would be a home that can provide him with daily access to a safe balcony or other secured outdoor area. Snorre usually lies alone and does not seek active contact with the other FIV cats, but is generally tolerant as long as you do not get too close to him. He can move into single housing as long as sufficient company and everyday enrichment is guaranteed by his human, but could also move to unobtrusive, relaxed cats. Due to the breed, special attention should be paid to careful grooming. We wish Snorre to experience a beautiful new start in a loving environment! (07.08.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or reassessments. It can always happen that an animal shows itself differently or develops differently both here in the shelter and in the new home due to changed circumstances. Back to overview Back to overview

männlich Fundtier/Wohnungshaltung FIV-positiv Geboren ca. 2024 Sibirische Waldkatze (Mix?) About Snorre

What life with Snorre looks like

Snorre is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snorre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snorre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snorre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snorre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snorre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snorre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snorre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
