Adopt Snow

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Female, has been neutered Born around October 15, 2024 Podenco-Galgo mixed breed Height around 56 cm / Weight around 17 kgPflegestelle Spain: Refugio AmpostaFrom the Perrera in Vinaros, the beautiful Podenco mixed-breed female dog Snow was allowed to come to Monika's refuge with her on March 15, 2026. Unfortunately, like so often when dogs come from a Perrera, we know nothing more about her past. At Monika, the elegant female dog with her white fur and pretty spots shows herself openly and is very people-oriented. She likes to lean into people to get her cuddles. She gets along well with her fellow animals. Anaïs and Daniela were able to meet the friendly Snow during their visit to the refuge and were fascinated by her. We wish for the agile, active, and playful Snow people with patience and responsibility who would like to teach her the dog ABC and keep her sufficiently physically active and mentally engaged. Podencos are great dogs, but they bring a strong prey drive and need a bit more time outside to build a good bond with their primary caregiver. In the house, they are much calmer and more attached and love to be cozy. Has Snow piqued your interest or do you want more information? Then feel free to contact us via email.

About Snow

What life with Snow looks like

Snow is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz in Switzerland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
