Snow

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Snow is a beautiful white male dog who is very shy and reserved. He is very interested in his surroundings and is curious about everything. He is very relaxed in his kennel and is not easily startled. He is very interested in people but does not actively seek their attention. He is very interested in chicken hearts and will lick them off your hand. He is one of the many dogs who, with enough time and patience, will eventually trust their caregivers. Snow is still very shy and does not want to draw attention to himself. However, he seems happy and looks beautiful. Compared to Onesti, he lives in a dog paradise. He has his own hut, always something to eat, exercise when he wants, and enough entertainment with other dogs. He cannot stand people, perhaps because he does not know how nice people can be. Snow sometimes stands a little "lost" in his kennel. He is very shy and does not actively seek contact with people. February 2017 Snow can now be stroked and seems to like it, even if he does not push himself. He has fit in very well in the large dog group and seems very happy. He would certainly like to have his own family, preferably with a first dog who helps him navigate the new world. May 2016 The shy and disturbed Snow has become a beautiful dog with a beautiful white coat. He is still a little shy around people, but in the company of other dogs in the open run, he warms up and laughs. He is very tolerant. February 2016 We took Snow in early February 2016, along with 5 other very neglected and malnourished dogs from the terrible animal shelter in Onesti. They would have certainly died soon: Csillag, Mica, Simon, Soare, Snow and Vuk. Now they are with us, their physical and emotional wounds can heal over time, they are well fed, stroked, medically cared for. They will gain weight and their fur will grow over their old scars. And after a few weeks, they can run and play with the other dogs in our large outdoor area. Snow is extremely frightened, he only comes out of the hut when there are no people in the kennel. But I am sure that the beautiful white male will also soon be healthy, then he can learn that people are also good to him. He will then certainly get a beautiful white coat, hence his name "Snow". He arrived without any meaningful papers. Only for experienced people.

About Snow

What life with Snow looks like

Snow is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. in Romania.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Initiative Karpatenstreuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
