Socke

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Socke has waited much too long. Since nearly 4 years, the approximately 5.5-year-old male dog has been living in the our shelter, and unfortunately counts among our long-term residents. When he was found, he was still open and enjoyed being stroked. Over the years, however, Socke almost lost hope of finding his own home. Nowadays, he spends most of his time in his doghouse and is increasingly withdrawing. Only a few familiar people, like Dorel and Mrs. Medan from the shelter team, are still allowed to get close to him. From time to time, Socke still finds the courage to leave his house and play a little with Dorel – moments that show that deep in his heart, there is still a spark of joy. Socke is about 45 cm tall, of medium build, and has always lived problem-free with other dogs. In the pack, he is always reserved, avoids conflicts, and rather gives way to other dogs. For Socke, we are looking for a patient and dog-experienced family or foster home that helps him step by step to build trust with calmness, love, and empathy. Socke needs people who allow him to come at his own pace and are not discouraged by setbacks – people who are ready to find life together with him slowly. We know that a lot of patience and a lot of heart are needed, but Socke has earned it so much to finally experience how beautiful a protected dog life can be. Socke is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and would be a great chance as a loving foster home for Socke as a springboard to happiness. Who will give this forgotten treasure new hope and show him that life has more to offer than a doghouse in the shelter? Many thanks to Kristin for giving Socke his identity! A big thank you also goes to Tamara W., who took over a monthly sponsorship for Socke. As of: 15.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Socke

What life with Socke looks like

Socke is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Socke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Socke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Socke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Socke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Socke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Socke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Socke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
