SOLE

Male · Adult · 8 years

Hello everyone, I am SOLE and I will now summarize my story for you. My dog trainer Davide Battaglia says about me: "SOLE had fear issues towards people [...] he went from passive defense to aggression. The work we did started by lowering his stress level in the presence of people, so that we could interact with him. Then, we worked on getting him used to the leash. Once this important step was achieved, we introduced him to the outside environment: initially this caused panic, SOLE would freeze; in this case, we implemented an adaptation process through social and environmental reward, because the fear was so great that he couldn't take food directly from the human." As you can understand, my life hasn't been easy, but now I'm learning to enjoy many beautiful things. What I need now is a family that has a lot of time to dedicate to me and can allow me to start living again outside the dog shelter! SOLE requires meet-and-greets before adoption, a family that keeps him at home and has a lot of time to dedicate to him, to help him integrate and continue the path started in the dog shelter. Even once at home, he might still need to be followed for a while by a dog trainer. We want to thank Davide for the fantastic work done also with him.

About SOLE

What life with SOLE looks like

SOLE is a small adult dog waiting at Canile San Francesco Padova in Padova.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting SOLE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SOLE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canile San Francesco Padova handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SOLE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SOLE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canile San Francesco Padova will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SOLE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SOLE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canile San Francesco Padova early rather than rehoming privately; they know SOLE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
