Contact for adoption: , email: SONIA is a Golden Bullka in the American Staffordshire Terrier type, estimated age of approx. 11-12 years. She was handed over to us by her owners who could not keep her in a rented apartment. Soni's story is sad. In previous years, SONIA was starved, was passed from hand to hand several times, was in a foundation, in an animal shelter. In her old age, she is homeless again. At the moment, she is sick and needs care and treatment. From the owners' description, SONIA is a golden dog. Indeed, we can confirm that she is the perfect city companion, apartment-dweller, quiet, people-loving and lazy! She is rather anxious towards other dogs. SONIA came to us with polyuria. This means she suffered from excessive thirst. After diagnosis, it turned out that the female dog suffers from multiple musculoskeletal diseases and "drank the pain". We are very sorry when a dog comes to us who has not been treated in recent years and has lived in suffering. Sometimes, when a dog comes to the foundation, it gets a chance for diagnosis, treatment, and relief from suffering. SONIA suffers from spondylosis in the spine, has bone spurs on the knee, suspicion of a torn cruciate ligament (which causes multiple degenerations in case of no surgery), bone spurs in the shoulder joint, causing pain. For now, rehabilitation is needed, attempts to break down the bone spurs with shock wave therapy or arthroscopy, knee stabilization surgery, and conservative treatment. We have immediately started the medication Librela and also started rehabilitation. If this does not help, we have injectable treatments left, as well as probably knee stabilization. 14.10.2024 There are dogs that for some reason do not have luck in life and SONIA belonged to them. Soni's story is sad, at least for the twelve years of her life. SONIA needed to be taken care of, which we did. For the past 2.5 years we have diagnosed and taken care of her painful shoulders and weak knees, bad remaining teeth and above all, we have started treatment for Cushing's disease. In Cushing's disease, which SONIA bravely deals with, regular abdominal ultrasounds are very important. Fortunately, these come out very nicely for us. Additionally, Soni managed to lose 1.5 kg above the program (weight is unfortunately another Cushing's topic). Soni has also received what was missing for those long years - a quiet, warm home (where she is shamelessly pampered, and we have to close our eyes to it). Her caregivers not only bravely monitor the health of the little lady, but also work tenaciously on her temperament. SONIA doesn't particularly like other dogs, although she has made great progress in dog relations. Last year, she presented herself well at behavioral workshops, where she correctly found her way in situations with many dogs. In addition, our senior is on many trips with Martyna and Paweł. Ogromnie jest nam przykro, gdy trafia do nas pies, który był nieleczony w ostatnich latach i żył w cierpieniu. W sumie czasem jest tak, że kiedy pies trafia do fundacji to dostaje szansę na diagnostykę, leczenie i ulgę w cierpieniu. Sonia cierpi na spondylozę w kręgosłupie, ma osteofity na rzepce, podejrzenie naderwanego więzadła krzyżowego (a to powoduje liczne zwyrodnienia w przypadku braku operacji), osteofity w stawie ramiennym, co powoduje ból. Na dziś potrzebna jest rehabilitacja, próba rozbicia osteofitów falą uderzeniową lub artroskopią, operacja stabilizacji kolana oraz leczenie zachowawcze. Zdecydowaliśmy się od razu podać lek Librela, ruszamy także z rehabilitacją. Jeśli ta nie pomoże, pozostają nam zastrzyki dostawowe oraz pewnie stabilizacja kolana. 14.10.2024 Są takie psy, które nie wiedzieć czemu, nie mają szczęścia w życiu i do nich należała Sonia. Historia Soni jest smutna, a przynajmniej takie było dwanaście lat jej życia. Sonia potrzebowała, aby się nią zająć, co też uczyniliśmy. Przez ostatnie 2,5 roku diagnozowaliśmy, opiekowaliśmy się jej bolesnymi barkami i słabszymi kolankami, fatalnymi resztkami zębów a przede wszystkim zaczęliśmy leczyć chorobę Cushinga. W chorobie Cushinga, z którą mega dzielnie mierzy się Sonia, bardzo ważne są regularne badania usg brzucha. Te na szczęście wychodzą nam bardzo ładnie. Dodatkowo Soni udało się zrzucić nadprogramowe 1,5 kg (waga to niestety kolejny cushingowy temat). Sonieczka dostała też to, czego zabrakło przez te długie lata - spokojny, ciepły dom (w którym jest bezwstydnie rozpieszczana, a my musimy przymykać na to oczy ). Jej opiekunowie nie tylko dzielnie monitorują zdrowie babuszki, ale też z zacięciem pracują nad jej charakterem. Sonia bowiem niespecjalnie przepada za psami, choć i tak wykonała ogromny postęp w psich relacjach. W zeszłym roku godnie prezentowała się na warsztatach behawioralnych, gdzie bardzo poprawnie odnalazła się w sytuacji spotkań z wieloma psami. Oprócz tego nasza seniorka bywa na licznych wyjazdach z Martyną i Pawłem. Słowem – żyje pięknym seniorski życie, którego życzylibyśmy każdemu psu.
