Sooty

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 15 years

Sooty is the sweetest boy, he has lived with his beloved mum all his life and has come to Last Chance after she sadly died recently to find another loving home. Sooty loved to sleep on the bed beside his mum and had a soft spot on the sofa, where he snuggled up on the comfy cushions. Sooty would love to be the only spoilt pet, and he is OK with very gentle older children. Sooty is unfortunately very overweight at the moment but with gentle reductions to his diet over time, he should be able to reach a comfortable weight. Sooty will make a lovely companion for a kind couple or a single woman. He has been a little nervous around men but this has been improving recently.

About Sooty

What life with Sooty looks like

Sooty is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Last Chance Animal Rescue in Edenbridge.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sooty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sooty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Last Chance Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sooty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sooty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Last Chance Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sooty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sooty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Last Chance Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sooty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
